Pastor Khalil Rogers, MBA

Biography of Rev. Khalil Rogers, Senior Pastor

Pastor Khalil Rogers was born June 1, 1979 in West Philadelphia. He grew up in the Bible Way Baptist Church where he received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at the age of 16. He’s been married to the lovely Tamika Rogers (a Philadelphia School Teacher) since 2002 and they are the proud parents of two beautiful children, daughter Talia (2007), and son Khalil (2009). Pastor Khalil graduated from Penn Wood High School in Lansdowne, Pa in 1997 and started Eastern University in the fall of that same year, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business management in May of 2001. While attending Eastern University Pastor Khalil was a volunteer at the Barry Elementary School in West Philadelphia and a member of the Black Student League. In May of 2012 Pastor Khalil graduated from Eastern University with an MBA in business management.

Pastor Khalil is a graduate of the Clergy Development Institute (now called A.D.I.) located at the Bible Way Baptist Church. He received his license to preach the Gospel on April 23, 2008 and was ordained on June 29, 2014 at the Bible Way Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Damone B. Jones Sr.

Pastor Khalil Rogers is a member of the Brotha-Hood (Helping Others Overcome Defeat) Foundation. The Brotha-Hood Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to M.E.N.D.’ing (Male Encouragement, Navigation and Development) at-risk males (including currently incarcerated youthful offenders) between the ages of 14-25 years in the Philadelphia area. The mission of the Brotha-Hood Foundation is to create sustainable pathways to divert young men of color from entering into the criminal justice system and providing resources to avoid recidivism of youthful offenders. Pastor Khalil has a burden for young black men influenced by the streets and works hard to bridge the gap between the streets and the church.

On February 17, 2018 Pastor Khalil was elected Senior Pastor of the Peniel Baptist Church, located 2515 West Jefferson St, Philadelphia, PA 19121. On September 30, 2018, Pastor Khalil Rogers was installed as the third Pastor in the church’s 87-year history.

Pastor Khalil’s numerous accolades include, among others, the following: the Bible Way Baptist Church honors for his dedication and service to the preaching, teaching and ministry of God’s Word on June 19, 2009; the Bible Way Baptist Church Youth Ministry honors for his dedication and outstanding support to the youth of the Bible Way Baptist Church in 2012; the Men to Men Mentoring, Inc. certificate on August 2, 2015; the Brotha-Hood certificate for making a difference in the lives of the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center (PICC) youthful offenders in 2017; the 2018 United Way Superhero Award in recognition of his commitment to give, advocate and volunteer in support of others in the Philadelphia and Montgomery County communities and beyond.

Among Pastor Khalil’s greatest pleasures are celebrating the joys of life with his wife, Tamika, and his children Talia and Khalil, sports, listening to music (all genres), target shooting, fishing, traveling, reading, and journaling.
